Kalo Jeera Biscuit -Savory Biscuit with Nigella Seed
Kalo Jeera Biscuit (Savory Biscuit with Nigella Seed)
|
I baked these for my father who is sugar intolerant and has a very high blood pressure. So I made them with love instead of sugar or butter.
Makes: 24
100- Margarine or low fat spread or vegetable oil or butter (I used equal mix of oil and spread)
200- Plain flour
1- Egg
2-teaspoon sugar or 2-tablespoon sweetener
½- teaspoon salt or according to your taste
½- teaspoon Kalo jeera (Nigella seed)
½-teaspoon Baking powder
1. Beat oil/spread/butter or like me equal mix of spread and oil with sugar and egg for 5/6 mins or until properly mixed
2. Add Nigella seed or kalo jeera in the mix
3. Use a strainer to sieve the flour, salt and baking powder
4. Combine flour, salt and baking powder mix with the egg mixture
5. Mix them well to form dough
6. Keep the dough for a while
7. Preheat the oven in 150c
8. Using the rolling pin roll the dough about 1/8th inch thick
9. Use a cookie cutter cut cookies (I do not have cookie cutters so I used a bottle cap to cut the cookies. Hence the weird shape)
10. Place the cookies in a greased baking tray
11. Bake the cookies for 20-25 mins or until lightly golden brown ( timing will vary depending on oven used)
Love this one…will try it soon.
