Day before yesterday, I had the privilege and plea Day before yesterday, I had the privilege and pleasure to make a cake for one little girl who is special in her own rights. She is the first little one born amongst our group of friends in London. My first professional cake was her birthday cake. She is my daughter’s most favourite didi and friend. Our summer holidays are always more fun when we spend with them in various stacations, walks, late night adda or failed attempts of barbecues in their back garden. This girl just turned 10. The big double digit. I had the honour to make her cake for her milestone birthday. She wanted a garden themed cake. And I wanted her to have the best one I could make. So here is the cake: a pure labour of love! I hope and pray that you grow up with love, laughter, friendship, kindness and have amazing adventures. And I get to make all your special cakes. 

Cake details : bottom tier a 8 inch cake with 7 inch height; vanilla cake with salted caramel buttercream and salted caramel insert.
Top tier 6inch cake with 8inch height; lemon drizzle cake with Sicilian lemon buttercream and lemon mouse insert.

All edible and hand made

The weather is changing- although we are getting s The weather is changing- although we are getting snow in the mornings but longer sunny days are making a difference in people’s mood. And there is the new relaxation on lockdown rule - we are able to meet six people outdoor in a social distance way.  It was lovely to be able to cook for such a small party. Some biryani and chichen chanp made to Oder!

I am ever so thankful to you..opening the door of DE to home cooks like me to host supper clubs gave me the confidence then I can dream big and there is support. You have not only helped me and many like me to host people in a restaurant setting but also helped us develop on a personal front. Having @sadiq  as my guest was the bonus of the day. Oh god it was scary to say the least! But he was amazing and he is ever so charming and supportive of  Small business and women led business. I must thank my dearest friend Saima for all the love .

Oh this fish bake!!! Must try must try! One of those recipe where all you care about is getting the food on plate.. so what I did is 
Frozen tilapia, left over green chutney from the samosa that we got from aumkar, ajwain ( carom seed), red chilli flakes, two teaspoon chilli achar that I made last summer, Dijon mustard I teaspoon, aamchur... all mixed together and covered with foil and baked. The taste is to die for. This will be going in my recipe list for upcoming supper club.

This year has been difficult one. We, as small set This year has been difficult one. We, as small set up, had to almost close to protect our family and others. But there is always light at the end of the tunnel. We are hoping that 12th April will bring some normalcy back to our life. We are also nearing Nababorsho (Bengali New Year). This time of the year is most special for all of us celebrating the advent of the new year in many forms across India. Especially for us, Nababorsho has been a spectacular time as we always host mega supper clubs in extremely  loved venues, followed by series of suppers clubs at home. Last year our sold out supper club around this time would have had Ruskin Bond as my guest!! Alas that was cancelled due to the pandemic. But we are coming back with take away menu for this year. I am constantly in search for cuisines that are little explored. I am a learner as I walk along this journey. I have spend months searching recipes from the Tagore household, which culminated in a series of very well appreciate supper clubs two years back. This whole lockdown I spent time looking for cuisines cooked at various Rajbaris of Bengal - both epar and opar. My knowledge is still very rudimentary and I have long way to go. But with the little knowledge I could gather sitting in London, I have curated a menu (with little changes to suit the availability of ingredients) to welcome the new year that is befitting for all of us - the resilient human spirit .
